Special to The PREVIEW

Come ring in the New Year with music, dancing, gourmet hors d’oeuvres and champagne at the Pagosa Lakes Clubhouse on Dec. 31.

The Archuleta County Education Center is hosting a fund-raiser with classy entertainment and delicious food, all from our local community.

Festivities will begin at 8 p.m. and the evening includes exhibition dances from local dance instructors Deb Aspen, Les Linton and Gerry Potticary. The Foxtrot, East Coast Swing, Argentine Tango and Electric Slide will be performed, plus some instruction to encourage guests onto the dance floor.

“DJ Dude” Mike Hayward will provide the music.

Hors d’oeuvres, desserts and delicacies will come from local fine dining restaurants.

Door prizes and a silent auction will add excitement. Auction items include an exquisite black cherry and tropical koa silverware chest, a jewelry set handmade by Elizabeth Baldwin and a crystal Tiffany vase.

A complimentary champagne toast will be held at New York midnight, and for those wanting to party the night away, another one at midnight “Pagosa time.”

All proceeds from the New Year’s Eve celebration will benefit programs and operating expenses at the Archuleta County Education Center. Since 1987, we have supported the education of Pagosa residents with K-8 after-school programs, community education classes, GED, English as a Second Language classes and an alternative high school.

As we are a non-profit organization, the majority of our funding comes from grants. In the current economic climate less grant money is available and the process is increasingly competitive.

Come support the Education Center as we say “goodbye” to 2012 and look forward to a New Year of opportunity and growth for Pagosa Springs and the Archuleta County Education Center.

Tickets are $40 for singles, $70 for two, and are available via PayPal on our website at, at the Chamber of Commerce, at the Education Center on the corner of 4th and Lewis streets, or at the door.

For more information, call 264-2835.

Save the date of March 20 for the Education Center’s 25th anniversary celebration luncheon.
