The Downing family is heading to New York City to discuss Sierra Jane Downing’s recent bout with bubonic plague on The Dr. Oz Show.
The family is flying to New York City Thursday, courtesy of the show, and will reunite with the two most prominent doctors who treated Sierra — Drs. Jennifer Snow and Wendi Drummond, mom Darcy Downing said.
Snow diagnosed Sierra’s bubonic plague, while Drummond, an infectious disease specialist, put Sierra on the right combination of antibiotics.
“Our goal for this appearance is to first educate people about the presence of bubonic plague and second to provide closure to all of the little friends all over the country who have been following Sierra’s story,” Darcy Downing said in an e-mail. “We have received cards from Girl Scouts from surrounding areas clear up to Washington State.”
The show is slated to air Oct. 2 on ABC.
