Dear Editor:

Frankly, I was surprised to see William Dwight Hooton’s name on the ballot, offering to serve us on the school board, District 5. Maybe even a little bit awed.

I say this because I know him as Dr. Dwight Hooton. No matter the time, day or night, if one of our horses, dogs or cats needs him he is there to provide professional veterinary care. He has made a difference. Dependable, knowledgeable, caring and ready for the challenge.

So, after thinking about the possibilities, it makes sense to use his energy, intelligence, good disposition, caring attitude and attention to detail developed in one demanding profession to tackle the challenges facing our education system. I know one thing for sure: his seemingly tireless energy will be used to make a real difference for our kids and for education.
