By Becky Herman
Special to The Pagosa Springs SUN Online

The Archuleta County Democratic Party will hold its election-year assembly and convention on Saturday, March 22, at the County Extension Building. The assembly starts at 9 a.m.

The purpose of the county assembly is to nominate county and/or state candidates for a primary election and to elect delegates to the Congressional Assembly and the State Assembly. It is also necessary for the approval of the county platform and approval of the precinct committee people elected at the caucus, and the election of the members to the State Permanent Organization Committee and the State Credential Committee. It also approves the members of the Vacancy Committee for the next two years and elects county party officers.

Coffee, juice and other breakfast items will be served. Anyone interested is encouraged to attend. Only elected delegates to the assembly will be allowed to vote. Call Becky Herman at 264-2171 or 903-0788 for more information.
