Dalton Walls, age 16, of Pagosa Springs, won double gold at the Colorado Special Olympics Winter Games at Copper Mountain Feb. 24 and 25. His speedy 50-second slalom and 41-second giant slalom earned him first place in both intermediate men’s downhill ski races. Over 300 athletes and 400 coaches and volunteers gathered for the event, which was topped off with fireworks and a torchlight parade by the Copper Mountain ski patrol. This was Dalton’s sixth year competing in the state finals.
