Curtains Up Pagosa is happy to announce the next event in its Silverado Concert series celebrating their 25th year of performing and mentoring young people in Pagosa. Join us for a guitar/vocals concert led by Laith Scherer, with guests Darcy DeGuise, Johannah Laverty and Julian Oliver, on Thursday, May 15, from 6-8 p.m. at Nello’s Bistro.

Admission is free. Donations to CUP are welcome in support of our music and vocal programs for kids in Pagosa.

Scherer was an active stage actor and performer in both high school and CUP performances, as we remember him as Kenicke in “Grease” and Luther Billis in “South Pacific.” He won Best Actor and strong accolades for his one-act plays. Scherer was a recipient of the “Danna’s Song” vocal scholarship with CUP, created in honor of Danna Laverty’s memory to support Pagosa kids and voice.

Scherer graduated in 2012, and just completed his first semester at Western State College in Gunnison; his future plans include a move to the West Coast and colleges transfer working on a music major. Scherer has also been cast in the title role of Jesus in CUP’s Summer 2014 production of “Jesus Christ Superstar!”

We hope you will join us at Nello’s this Thursday for some great, great entertainment for a great cause. Fill our hats with “Cash for CUPs,” our fundraising initiative in support of kids and the performing arts.
