Special to The PREVIEW
On Sunday, Sept. 30, the Pagosah Unitarian Universalist Fellowship service topic will be “Compassion: Translating Research into Action,” presented by Dr. Pam Kircher.
Kircher recently participated in a panel discussion on “Compassion in Action” at the International Conference on The Science of Compassion, held in Telluride, Colo.
She reports that over 40 researchers presented their findings throughout the four-day conference.
Kircher will give us a feeling of what it was like to be there and a distillation of the current state of research in compassion. She’ll then lead a discussion of how we, as UUs, might use that information in our lives and in our community.
This subject specifically relates to the Unitarian Universalist Association’s Second Principle: “Justice, equity, and compassion in human relations.”
The Children’s Religious Exploration program, led by Anna Ramirez, will be available for all ages to learn about and discuss the effect various religions throughout history have had on our world.
The service begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Pagosah Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Hall. The address is Unit B-15, Greenbriar Plaza. Turn east on Greenbriar Drive off of North Pagosa Boulevard by the fire station, then left into the back parking lot and look for the big sign. All are welcome.
