Special to The PREVIEW
The Archuleta County Education Center (ACEC) Board of Directors was treated to a working lunch provided by students at Pagosa Springs Elementary School for its July meeting.
After a tour of the classrooms to see the ACEC-facilitated Summer School Program in action, board members were served lunch by the students. Students decorated the table with colorful and imaginative place settings. The tablecloth was patterned with finger-paint hand prints, centerpieces were set in “Lego” containers, and napkins, napkin rings and name cards were all handmade, decorated with crayons and school-themed fabric.
A colorful “thank you” poster was presented to the board by Kate Lister, Pagosa Springs Elementary School principal. Students from the After School Tutoring Program, which the Education Center administers during the school year, created the poster to comment on how the tutoring program has helped them.
Archuleta School District (ASD)provides the elementary school facilities for both the Summer School Program and the After School Tutoring Program. This successful partnership with the ACEC, which runs both programs, is made possible by funds from an anonymous donor. Guests at the board meeting were ASD Superintendent Linda Reed and Assistant Superintendent David Hamilton.
