Special to The PREVIEW
The Pagosa Springs High School (PSHS) music room will be bustling with activity at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12, as preparations for this year’s edition of the Pagosa Springs Choral Society’s annual Christmas Concert will begin.
Singing under the direction of Dan Burch (PSHS’s music department head), the choir of 50-70 members of the community will begin preparing musical selections under the theme of Noel including: “French Chorale of Praise,” “All Is Well,” “Such A Small King” and the beloved “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s “Messiah.” Additionally, a select jazz ensemble will perform two selections to celebrate the season.
New choir members are welcome to participate in the choir, in addition to those who will be returning. It should be noted that those wishing to audition for the jazz ensemble will be chosen from those singing in the community choir.
Beginning Sept. 12, rehearsals will be held each Tuesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Each participating choir member is asked to pay $20 to defray the cost of music.
If you are interested in singing with the choir or have any questions, please call Pattye Holton at 731-1495.
