The Pagosa Springs Community Band will begin rehearsals  on Monday, Sept. 30, for its fall concert.

Rehearsals will be held in the band room at Pagosa Springs High School and registration for the first rehearsal on Sept. 30 will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the rehearsal beginning at 6.

Subsequent rehearsals will be held weekly and will alternate between Monday evenings from 6-8 p.m. and Sunday afternoons from 2-4 p.m. The fall concert is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 23.

If you play a concert band instrument, percussion or a string instrument, we invite you to join The Pagosa Springs Community Band.  If you haven’t played for a while, dust off your instruments and come enjoy some camaraderie with fellow musicians. The band is under the musical direction of retired band director Larry Baisdon, who makes our rehearsals fun and educational. We have several members who played their instruments in their youth and only recently picked them back up again, so don’t be shy about giving your instruments a second chance.

A few of the pieces you can look forward to playing at this concert are “Shenandoah” and “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.”

The Pagosa Springs Community Band is a non-profit organization and there is a $15 membership fee to assist with covering music and administrative costs. We will collect this fee during the registration process at our first rehearsal. If a family has multiple members participating, the registration fee will be capped at $30. If you would like to play with the band, but do not have the financial resources to pay this fee, please come and join us as we will make arrangements for those unable to cover the fee.

Pull those instruments out of the closet and come join us. If you would like to play, but no longer have your instrument, contact us and we will see what we can do to help locate an instrument for you to use. You can contact Heidi Tanner at (970) 749-7385 if you have questions. Remember, the first rehearsal is Monday, Sept. 30, at the Pagosa Springs High School band room.
