Cinco de Mayo fiesta for adults next Tuesday

Please join us next Tuesday, May 5, from 1to 3 p.m. for a free fiesta for adults to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.

The event will include music, games, a quick history lesson and prizes. If it is a nice day, we’ll spend some time outside. No advance registration is required.

Activities calendars available

To be sure you don’t miss any of the free activities available to you and your families at your library, we encourage you to pick up a copy of the events calendar each month. There are three versions — kids (includes tweens), teens and adults.

Lifelong Learning Lecture tonight

Tonight, Thursday, April 30, marks the third of the library’s free six-week spring Lifelong Learning Lecture series, with a wide variety of interesting topics to enrich your life and keep your mind agile.

Puja and Udgar Parsons will be speaking on “The Power of Growing Your Own Food.” They will share their personal journey toward healthy choices, how it motivated the creation of the Growing Dome greenhouse and their innovative approach to doing business.

All lectures take place on Thursday evenings at 5:30 p.m. and last about an hour, followed by time for questions. Pick up a brochure at the library for the full schedule and watch for information on future talks in this column.
