The Geothermal Greenhouse Partnership (GGP) is presenting its final workshop of 2017, “The Three Sisters at your Thanksgiving Table.”
The hands-on culinary class is Saturday, Nov. 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ross Aragon Community Center north conference room and kitchen (Senior Center).
The Three Sisters are corn, beans and squash, native vegetables grown in the Four Corners for many hundreds of years. They are often planted together, supporting each other, enriching the soil and nourishing countless generations.
The celebration of the Four Corners native foods will feature four of the region’s finest chefs. Participants will learn gourmet recipes, perhaps a little fancier than standard Thanksgiving fare, and some relevant garden lore and fun history. Remember, pumpkin is a squash.
Do you have a treasured family Three Sisters recipe? A special baked squash or a special cornbread? Bring your favorite recipes to share and trade. Bring your neighbors and wear your apron.
Folks are already registering for this workshop, so reserve your seat today. Registration includes lunch, ample tastes and even leftovers. Register at Pagosagreen.org or at the door. Cost is $20 for GGP members and $40 for nonmembers. All proceeds support GGP’s ongoing educational activities.
