CDC meeting

Dear Editor:

As I wrote in the Letter to the Editor of July 31, “The Pagosa Springs CDC is in a state of transition and there will be a new leadership team seated soon.” So the Pagosa Springs Community Development Corporation will hold an annual members’ meeting Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 5:30 p.m. at a location to be announced the week before, for the purpose of electing four new directors. Directors will be elected by the current board. The meeting will be open to the public.

The goal of the CDC is a diverse and vital economy for Pagosa Springs and Archuleta County. All interested parties are invited to nominate director candidates, or, if you have interest in becoming a director you are welcome to apply. You must first be a member of the CDC and submit a letter of interest summarizing your qualifications and interest. Director terms are three years.

The memberships are $50 per year for individuals and $100 per year for businesses. You can download an application here: and mail with a check and, optionally, a letter of interest for a director position to PSCDC, P.O. Box 1183, Pagosa Springs, CO 81147. Your membership is for one year and can be renewed each year.

The CDC will then will schedule a second public meeting shortly thereafter where, as departing chairman, I will publicly review financials, outline the transition plan, seat the new directors, resign and they will elect my replacement and elect officers. We will sandwich a work session between the two meetings to plan a smooth handoff.

Archuleta County is designated by the state of Colorado as one of the most economically distressed counties in the state. If you have energy and ideas to contribute to make our local economy more vital and diverse and help create good jobs for our working-age residents, I urge you to join and, if you have interest, apply for a director position. If you have questions, please call 946-1133 or email
