Shortly after 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, a large truck pulling a back hoe snagged an overhead La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) power line, pulling it down and breaking an adjacent pole in the vicinity of 574 E. Apache St., knocking 297 LPEA customers out of power.
Crews worked at the site all day to affect repairs. By 10:39 a.m., LPEA was able to restore power to 143 customers, and by about 3:30 p.m., only 90 customers remained out of power. Power was restored to the final 90 customers later that evening.
