ASI to host Oktoberfest celebration

By Nancy Ford

Special to The PREVIEW

Members of Archuleta Seniors, Inc. are preparing to again host their biggest fund-raiser this year— Oktoberfest — to assist Archuleta seniors with their outstanding medical bills.

This year Oktoberfest will be held at the Quality Resort (formerly the Pagosa Lodge) on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 4:30-8:30 p.m.

ASI will serve delicious German brats, buns, sauerkraut, potato salad and German Black Forest brownie cake with cherries.

Our local German band, Paukenschlagel, will play, conducted by Larry Elginer.

During their break June Marquez will lead the singing of German songs with DJ Dusty’s accompaniment.  The sound system will be provided by Mike Haywood.  The Pagosa High School Key Club is always there to assist us and enjoy the festivities.

Area breweries are providing the beers and German wines will be available — all for $3 each.  The Resort will have their full bar open.

Tickets can be purchased now at the Pagosa Chamber of Commerce or from ASI board members.  Tickets to this fun family fund-raiser are only $12 for adults and $5 for the children under 10.

Come join us in your best German attire.  We appreciate all of the local sponsor support this year to make this event a big community success.
