Archuleta County issues local disaster declaration

Pursuant to §24-33.5-709 of the Colorado Revised Statutes (C.R.S.), as the principal executive officer of Archuleta County, I am today issuing a local disaster declaration following the lead of President Trump in declaring a nation-wide state of emergency, Governor Polis in declaring a state-wide state of emergency, and San Juan Basin Health Executive Director Liane Jollon in declaring a local disaster, all in response to the spread of the COVID-19 virus. While, to date, there has not been a confirmed case of COVID-19 in Archuleta County, I am making this declaration as a proactive step to ensure that Archuleta County is in the best possible position to respond if, or when, COVID-19 is confirmed within our community. Making this declaration will allow Archuleta County to secure any needed resources more expediently, implement emergency plans as necessary and to become eligible for state and federal emergency funding should such funding be needed.

L. Scott Wall

Archuleta County Administrator
