The Pagosa Springs Community Development Corporation and the Pagosa Springs Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring a community assessment with Downtown Colorado Inc. (DCI) on Nov. 13 and 14.
The assistance program is designed to provide downtown revitalization and economic development technical assistance to Colorado communities hoping to support small business, create partnerships and develop and sustain viable and vibrant commercial corridors. Establishment of a more vibrant downtown and small business community was identified in the strategic plans of both the Chamber of Commerce and CDC organizations earlier this year. This collaborative endeavor with DCI is a step in both strategic plans to take common issues and combine organizational forces to tackle the issues.
In preparation for the DCI visit, a small group of involved citizens has been meeting to facilitate the visit. Part of that process is to develop a survey, distribute it to the business community and encourage participation.
The survey will be released primarily via e-mail through the Chamber membership. Business owners are encouraged to pass the survey on to other businesses that may not be Chamber members. The easiest way to complete the survey is via the online version. Surveys were sent out this week in a Chamber of Commerce-generated e-mail alert. This e-mail will contain the link to the survey. The survey will be posted on the Chamber website and can be accessed on the homepage at www.pagosaspringschamber.com. You do not need a special sign-in code in order to access the survey.
All surveys must be completed by the close of business on Thursday, Nov. 8, so the information can be collected and communicated to the Downtown Colorado, Inc. group for their visit the following week.
Outside of name, address and ownership information, the survey consists of approximately 16 questions about your business, hours and days of operation, parking, type of product or service offered, and general community inquiries. All business owners are encouraged to complete the survey, no matter the business or where it is located in the community. You do not have to be a downtown business owner to complete the survey. The survey should take about 15 minutes to complete. Hard copies of the survey can also be faxed to a business or obtained at the Chamber of Commerce and then returned to the Chamber by Nov. 8.
