The Mountain View Homemakers August meeting will be a picnic on Aug. 9 at the Blanco River home of Shirley and John Snider.
All area women are invited to come. Members are asked to bring a covered dish and arrive at about 11:30 a.m.
The Snider home is located about 10 miles south of U.S. 84. There will be balloons next to the road where attendees are to turn from the highway. This meeting will not include a formal program except for a report on last month’s fund-raising auction.
“This is a wonderful time for members and guest to visit and get to know each other better,” commented one of the group’s presidents, Barbara Ford.
“We are often so busy with projects, meals and programs, that we haven’t much time for socializing. So this is our time to visit and have fun,” added the other president Joyce Ryan.
The Homemakers organization is a monthly gathering of women who are interested in making the lives of their families and their community more livable. The meetings include lunch and either enlightening speakers or a hands-on community project. One auction fund-raiser every summer results in contributions to a eight or nine local non-profit efforts. There are no dues or membership requirements and every interested woman will be welcomed.
