“Cinderella,” now on stage at the high school auditorium at 7 p.m., July 5, 6 and 7, continues to dazzle audiences with the beauty of the music, the quality talent of the volunteer actors and musicians, and the gorgeous costuming and sets.
“Cinderella” is pure entertainment, good clean fun for the whole family.
Produced by Curtains Up Pagosa (formerly known as Music Boosters), this musical theater production has all the hallmark qualities that the community has come to expect from this organization. Performances by the lovely and talented Johannah Laverty (Cinderella) and her counterpart, Jarret Heber (Prince Christopher) are outstanding. Their voices are perfectly suited to the timeless music and lyrics of Rodgers and Hammerstein and the songs are delivered with style and grace.
Darcy DeGuise (The Fairy Godmother) and Max Miller (The Royal Steward) offer hilarious comic relief with their off-the-wall character renditions. The stepmother, played by Katrina Thomas, and her two self-centered daughters, played by Sacha Santa Cruz and Brooke Hampton, bring creative fun to these not-so-nice characters, making for a musical theater evening of delightful fun.
The all-volunteer pit orchestra adds fullness to the difficult score.
“It is hard to realize that everyone in this production volunteers their time, as the quality is quite professional,” says Dale Johnson, production director. “We have had so much fun working on this production, and the audience response has been fantastic.”
Bring the whole family to this delightful performance. You will not be sorry you did!
