In the face of rising energy costs, La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) continues its commitment to help its membership “Save Your Energy” with a Free Information Series workshop: Energy Efficiency 101.
The workshop is set for Wednesday, May 23, at the Ruby Sisson Library in Pagosa Springs. The workshop is scheduled 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and attendees are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch. Beverages will be available.
Ron Ebenkamp, marketing coordinator with Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, LPEA’s primary provider of electricity, will lead the session. Tri-State has a vested interest in helping consumers reduce their energy usage to ostensibly delay or avoid construction of additional electric generation facilities. As a non-profit cooperative owned by rural electric cooperatives including LPEA, Tri-State shares LPEA’s mission to help members save energy and dollars.
During the LPEA workshop, in addition to the simple energy efficient efforts and an estimate of kilowatt hours saved with each, information on rebates for energy efficient investments and more extensive projects will be provided.
“Electricity is vital to everyone’s daily life,” said Greg Munro, LPEA CEO. “As a rural electric cooperative we exist to distribute electricity to our membership at the lowest reasonable cost, but in today’s energy environment that might not be enough for our members. So, the more we can assist with energy efficiency to help them save electricity and dollars, the better.”
