The Silver San Juan Division of the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) will hold its spring meeting on Saturday, May 12, at 9 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, 843 N. Dustin Ave., Farmington.
Anyone who loves trains is invited.
The morning program includes clinics by local modeler Jim Griffin on, “How to Model Cool Stuff” and a live remote clinic by nationally-known narrow gauge modeler Duncan Harvey on, “Going Up Clear Creek Without a Smokestack.”
Swap tables will be available before the clinics.
The afternoon session features a video clinic by Earl Smallshaw, “MMR,” given at a National NRMA Convention, a model contest, and From the Workbench, where modelers display and discuss their current projects. A tour of three home layouts will conclude the day.
The model contest is open to paid-up division newsletter subscribers ($5 annual division newsletter subscriptions available at the door). First place will receive a one-year newsletter subscription extension. A favorite train contest, where modelers display their favorite train, fills out the day’s agenda. Contest judging will be by popular vote.
Directions to the model railroad layouts that will be open for viewing will be handed out following the meeting.
