On May 11, a group of young, eager musicians will hold a concert at Town Park.
This is no ordinary occasion; this is the Pagosa Springs Americana Project’s last concert of the year.
It is available to any and all from 5:30-8 p.m., and there is no admission fee. Many genres of music will be represented Friday evening. Just pull up a lawn chair, bring a couple of snacks and you’re set for the evening.
The Americana Project surrounds America’s Roots music, both classical and new. Students are inspired and encouraged to write and play original music, though not required to do so. In order to understand the Roots music, students study a Roots artist and learn Americana Roots history.
Creativity is among the most valued aspects in the class. Without it, music is dull and colorless. Students paint a vivid picture of what Americana music is all about. The music comes from the students’ hearts, not their heads. Students bring unique and entertaining music, some that hasn’t quite been discovered yet.
One thing is for sure, the youth of this town have a lot of talent.
Come on out to Town Park Friday at 5:30 p.m. for a great evening of music.
