Colorado law requires the county assessor to hear objections to real property classifications and valuations beginning no later than May 2, 2012. Objections to the valuation or classification of real property must be postmarked, delivered, or presented in person to the county assessor’s office no later than June 1, 2012.

Colorado law requires the county assessor to begin hearing objections to personal property valuations no later than June 15, 2012. Objections to personal property valuations must be postmarked, delivered, or presented in person to the county assessor’s office no later than July 2, 2012.

PUBLIC NOTICE

The Town has received a Major Design Review Development application submitted by Wal-Mart for the development of a 94,000 square foot retail/grocery store proposed to be located in phase 4 of the Aspen Village Commercial Development for Block 3, Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6. The applicant has also submitted an application for Vacation of Public Right of Way for the Aspen Park Circle cul-de-sac. The Design Review Board and Planning Commission will consider the two applications at a public hearing scheduled on May 22, 2012 at 5:15pm, in the Ross Aragon Community Center Gymnasium located at 451 Hot Springs Blvd. The Town Council will consider the ROW Vacation request at a public hearing scheduled on June 5, 2012 at 5pm, in Town Hall located at 551 Hot Springs Blvd. Anyone interested in more information should contact the Town Planning Department. Public comments will be heard at both public hearings and written comments will be accepted in advance of the public hearings. Comments received prior to the public hearings will be forwarded to the appropriate board for consideration.

Engineering Report.

A public hearing will be conducted to inform citizens and solicit public input, written or oral, regarding the Pagosa Springs Sanitation General Improvement District’s - Preliminary Engineering Report (PER). The PER is a report detailing the project consisting of pumping the Town’s wastewater to the PAWSD’s Vista WWTP for treatment. The report is being submitted to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) to qualify the Town for a State Revolving Fund Loan.

The PER evaluated three different pumping and route alternates and the selected alternate for both was based on design and construction issues. The alternates were also the most cost effective as well for the residents of the Town. The PER recommended the Meadows route and submersible pump station as the selected alternatives.

The PER evaluated the cost of the recommended improvements and it is estimated to cost $5.484 million. It is estimated that this pumping option will save the Town approximately $1.7 over the previous new wastewater treatment plant option.
