Regino Hernandez (Reggie) passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on Feb. 27, 2012, in Pagosa Springs, Colo.
Regino was born on June 16, 1918, in Pueblo, Colo., to Ysidoro and Francisa Hernandez. Regino was one of 14 children. He married Elena Davila in El Paso, Texas. Regino had three children: Ricardo, Regino Jr. (Regg) and Martha. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elena, and son, Ricardo.
Regino lived some of his life in El Paso, Texas, and moved to southern California in the early ’50s. He enjoyed playing baseball and playing his guitar. He was very active in the Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he was a deacon. Regino moved to northern California in the 1970s, where he built a home with his wife, Elena. He later moved here to Pagosa Springs in 2005 and lived with his son, Regino Hernandez Jr.
Regino is survived by his sister, Guadalupe Martinez, of El Paso, Texas; son, Regino Hernandez Jr., of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; and daughter, Martha DeLa Vega, of Smartville, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be a memorial service held to celebrate his life on Sunday, March 25, 2012, at the Pagosa Springs Seventh Day Adventist Church at 1 p.m.
