William Sanford Hines, 93, passed in peace from Durango, Colo., to his heavenly home on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012. He was born on August 17, 1918, in Anamosa, Iowa, to Emmanuel and Sylvia Hines. Preceded in death by his wife, Priscilla (Pat) and his son-in-law, Ken Campbell. Today we rejoice in the knowledge that he has passed into an eternal life of perfect peace and joy, forever at home with His Savior, Jesus Christ. Loving and devoted father to Kathy Campbell, William (Joyce) Hines, and Thomas (Mary Jo) Hines. Caring and thoughtful grandfather to Amy Hines, Michelle (Ryan) Koehl, Jeff (Erin) Campbell, Scott (Therese) Campbell, Bethany Hines, Joy (Ryan) Carnahan, Joseph Hines, Benjamin Hines, and Lydia Hines. Kind and proud great-grandfather of Jadyn, Andru, and Tyler Koehl, Carson and Kyle Campbell. Faithfully served our country in the army during World War 2 in the Asian-Pacific area. Prior to moving to Pagosa Springs, he resided in Omaha, Neb. During this time, for over 30 years he was a dedicated employee at Tretiak’s (today known as Diamond Vogel Paint & Decorating). He had an amazing memory and shared with us so many stories over the years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to Billy Graham and J. Vernon McGee, his Boston terriers, NE football, model trains, crossword puzzles, and ice cream.
