Jesus M. Lucero, of Pagosa Springs, Colo., passed away Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012. He was born Feb. 9, 1942, in Pagosa Springs, and was raised here and lived in Pagosa all his life. Many were acquainted with Jesus from his occupation of being a sawmill worker and carpenter. Jesus loved visiting with everyone he came into contact with. He knew no strangers. His love of Colorado was also well known to all.
Jesus loved fishing and being outdoors and having picnics with the family. He loved cruising on Sundays, listening to Spanish music. Jesus’ favorite food was beans, chili, potatoes and flour tortillas. His favorite song was “The Wooden Cross.” He liked going to casinos; being around people was his thing.
He taught his kids to work hard to have things in life. He told his kids, “You get sick, I’ll be by your bedside; you get in trouble and go to jail, you get out of it yourself.”
Jesus is preceded in death by his parents, Victor Lucero and Mary Lucero; his son, Thomas Lucero; his brothers, Victor Lucero and Clifford Lucero; and his grandson, Jesus Manuel Marinelarena.
