Pagosa Springs Head Start recently received a welcome holiday gift from Women Helping Others (W.H.O.). This local organization sponsored a fashion show in November, raising $3,500 for new playground equipment. The other beneficiary of proceeds from the fashion show was our local youth center.
W.H.O. is comprised of a group of local women dedicated to assisting those individuals and organizations involved in the education, health and well being of the members of our community. Members of W.H.O. are LaQuita Johnson, Maria MacNamee, Suzy Bruce, Julia Buenafe and Sharee Grazda.
The staff, students and families at Pagosa Springs Head Start wish to thank Women Helping Others, as well as the generous members of our community who helped make this event a success.
As many Pagosans may already know, Rollergirls In Pagosa (RIP) has been at it; training and skating for over a year now and is ready to perform on the competitive circuit against teams from Durango, Farmington, Cortez, Moab and Salida. Our league would like to thank our sponsors and volunteers who have and are currently helping our local Pagosa Roller Derby League become successful. RIP currently consists of 23 members and is growing, including skaters, coaches and officials. Each team member works hard on the track and off; training, recruiting skaters and members, fund-raising and contributing to our community through youth programs and public events. Kudos to our members.
Rollergirls In Pagosa want to thank our generous sponsors for 2011/2012: Costume Pit Stop, Pagosa Brewing, Eco Living Studio, A Body of Art, Silver Dollar, Kip’s Grill, West Wave Builders, Bear Creek Saloon and Grill, San Juan Dental Hygiene, Wolf Creek ski instructors, Odd Jobs Unlimited Mountain Spirits, Parelli Natural Horsemanship, KWUF, The Pagosa Springs SUN, Archuleta County Fire Department, RGS Labs and Healing Waters Spa
