Local representatives attend 4-H Leadership Development Conference

The 2012 Colorado State 4-H Leadership Development Conference (LDC) took place during the last weekend in January at the Renaissance Hotel in Denver.

LDC is a leadership development program for 4-H high school students and the theme of this year’s conference was “Life without Limits.”

The Growing Field leadership program centered on a two-day leadership training retreat culminating in a trip to our state capitol where 4-H members and legislators celebrated “4-H Day” on Jan. 30.

Katlyn McRee, Katie Laverty and Mesa Lynch represented Archuleta County and attended the leadership conference where they had the opportunity to meet and build friendships with fellow 4-H leaders from around the state.

The LDC is part of a community project that introduces youth to the ideas, beliefs and behaviors associated with personal growth, leadership and self-empowerment. Activities at the LDC conference offered opportunities to grow leadership skills reflecting the 4-H pledge: “I pledge my hands to larger service, for my club, my community, my country, and my world.”
