A meeting of the Pagosa Springs Merchants Association membership will be held Thursday, Feb. 23, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Pagosa Lodge.
The announcement of a Wal-Mart coming to Pagosa raises some important issues for local businesses. The agenda will include a presentation on where the Wal-Mart dollar goes versus where the dollar spent locally goes. We believe a “Shop Local” campaign is long overdue and want to launch such a campaign after listening to our membership.
Since Wal-Mart can be asked to avoid certain product lines, the meeting will include a discussion and listing of those product lines the local business owners think should be absent from the proposed Wal-Mart store.
Members of the Pagosa Springs Merchants Association are on the Town Council agenda, March 6, to address this matter, as well as any others members would like voiced.
The third item on the agenda will be a presentation on the training of personnel in the area of customer service.
The final topics will be the PSMA Shopping Guide and a fund-raising campaign for fireworks. The TTC needs our assistance in this endeavor.
Invitees to this meeting include all business owners and town and county officials. Please join us.
