The Thingamajig Theatre Company is holding auditions for the musicals “Chicago” and “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” at Fort Lewis College auditorium Tuesday, Jan. 31, from 5-9 p.m. and at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts Wednesday, Feb. 1, from 5-9 p.m. Callbacks will be held at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts Thursday, Feb. 2, from 6-9 p.m.
Thingamajig Theatre is looking for men and women ages 17-plus due to the adult nature of “Chicago.” Ages 16-plus are welcome for “Charlie Brown.” All roles are paid. The role of Billy Flynn in Chicago is pre-cast.
For dance auditions, please be prepared to dance at the start of your group dance session; you will learn at least one dance combo. Please stretch beforehand and be dressed appropriately for a dance audition.
For vocal auditions, bring sheet music in your key (16-32 bars prepared) of a relevant musical theater song that best showcases your vocal ability. A piano accompanist will be provided. Also be prepared to read/sing from the script/score.
Kander and Ebb’s sizzling, sexy musical of murder and seduction turned Broadway on its ear…and then became an instant classic movie musical, winning several Oscars. With a wildly entertaining cast of characters, heart-stopping dance numbers, a dazzling Kander and Ebb score and a plot that was decades ahead of its time, “Chicago” is just as much fun to perform as it is to watch! The score includes “All That Jazz,” “Cell Block Tango,” “We Both Reached for the Gun,” “Mister Cellophane,” “Razzle Dazzle” and many, many more.
About “Charlie Brown”
“You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” (revised) opened on Broadway in 1999. It is a fresh approach to the all-time 1967 classic. Sally Brown joins Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Schroeder and Snoopy in this version. Two new songs, “Beethoven Day” and “My New Philosophy,” have been added to the twelve wonderful numbers of the original version, such as “My Blanket and Me,” “The Kite,” “The Baseball Game,” “Little Known Facts,” “Suppertime” and “Happiness.”
Rehearsals begin Monday, April 23, and continue Mondays, Tuesday,, Wednesday ,and some Saturdays, 6:30-9:30 p.m. and Saturdays 1-4 p.m.
Performances are June 15-Aug. 12, Wednesdays-Fridays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Each show runs every other week with “Chicago “opening June 15 and “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” opening June 22.
