The Archuleta County Victim Assistance Program would like to enthusiastically thank all those who made this year’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month a truly inspiring collage of events all month long. First, to our loyal donors for enabling us to become an official 24-hour HELPLINE for victims. Thank you to our county commissioners officiating the month with their proclamation and wearing purple along with other county officials and staff. Thank you to Shear Talk for sponsoring the Purple Hair Craze fund-raiser and all the lovely Pagosans who participated. Thank you to Cahlie of Body Works and Lauren of The Salon at the Springs Resort for purple hair tinsel for our high schoolers. Thank you to the Town of Pagosa Springs for adorning their lampposts with purple ribbons, one for each victim served last year for 269 total ribbons in their honor. Thank you to the Clothesline Project hosts — Pagosa Springs High School, Ruby Sisson Library, Archuleta County Courthouse and Pagosa Springs Town Hall; and the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts for hosting our Unmasking Me/Unmasking the Future mask project. And, finally, we thank Zumba instructor Angela Wilson, the Wellness Center, all the Zumba dancers, and the Pagosa Lodge, which closed the month out with an exciting display of the first official flash mob to hit Pagosa Springs. It is only through your compassion and concern that makes our work towards ending this epidemic a reality.

I would like to thank Dennis and Michelle Schutz at Cat’s Paw Ranch for their donation of an elk hunt that was auctioned off at this year’s National Wildlife Turkey Federation (NWTF) banquet. Your generosity to the NWTF and the Wounded Warriors Project is something I will never forget. Dennis, I want to thank you and all veterans for your service. Thanks also to your guides who made this hunt a success and helped fulfill one of Army Sgt. Nicholas Beintema’s “bucket list” dreams. I would also like to thank Mike Jasper, Ray Hood and the rest of the staff with NWTF. We are looking forward to next year’s hunt made possible through Dennis and Michelle’s willingness to donate once again to NWTF and the Wounded Warriors Project.

The students and staff at Our Savior Lutheran Preschool would like to sincerely thank La Plata Electric Round-Up Foundation for their continued support of our program. We were awarded a grant in October that will help with the cost of student meals and tuition assistance. LPEA Round-Up has been generously donating to our program for the past five years. They are making a huge difference in many lives. Don’t forget to round-up on your electric bill; funds go to great community causes.
God is good, God is in a good mood and God gives good gifts to his children. We discovered just how true these confessions are during the 48 hours of his healing presence. God blew past our greatest expectations and gave even more of his love and goodness than we thought possible. He took us to the cross of Christ and took our burdens away, he brought us to the kingdom of God where we sat in heavenly realms with Jesus at the right hand of the father, and the glory came, and the glory came and the glory came. His presence was thick and tangible, we walked with Jesus through the pool of Bethesda, the river of the Holy Spirit flowed and healing came in body, soul and spirit to over 20 people during the 48 hours of his presence. Thank you to the worship teams and to the worshippers, thank you to the prayer servants and to all those who came to pray and to be prayed for, thank you to the Pagosa community for being so receptive to the healing power of Jesus. If you have any testimonies of your healing that occurred during the 48 hours, or just some words of encouragement, call Stan Gill at 946-1937.
