GeeGee, 58, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, in Las Vegas, Nev.
GeeGee was born on Dec. 29, 1952, in Durango, Colo. She is the daughter of Wilhelmina (Goomie) and Harold (Red) Clevenger. She graduated from Pagosa Springs High School in 1971 and married her high school sweetheart, Robert Gallegos, that same year. They were both residents of Pagosa Springs for a number of years and many will remember GeeGee as a cheerleader in high school and an avid golfer while living in Pagosa. In May of this year, they celebrated 40 years of marriage with a renewal of their vows. GeeGee enjoyed her career as a florist and took pride in her grandchildren. She enjoyed the time she spent watching her grandson, Denver, play baseball and getting to be a part of her granddaughter Zariah’s daily life.
GeeGee was preceded in death by her mother, Goomie, her father, Red, and her sister, Desi. GeeGee was the oldest of six.
Her husband, two children and four sisters survive GeeGee. Her husband, Robert Gallegos, of Las Vegas, her oldest daughter Jedeka Hamilton and husband, Terry, and their sons Denver, David and Eugene, her son Robert Gallegos and his girlfriend, Heather, and their daughter, Zariah, also reside in Las Vegas. GeeGee’s sisters and families include: Kindra Martinez and her husband, Leonard, of Albuquerque, N.M., and their daughters, Palmira and Estrella and son, Jose; Tonnie Taylor, her son, Dominic, of Artesia, N.M., and her daughter, Tawny, of Albuquerque; Zebbie Bowden and her husband, Ridge, and their sons, Tristan and Stephen, his wife Vanessa and their children, Reece and Sammy, of Artesia; Lisa Clevenger, and her daughter, Jade, of Albuquerque.
A memorial service is scheduled for GeeGee on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at 3 p.m. at the Gallegos home: 6420 Waterdragon Ave., Las Vegas, Nev., for her friends and family in Las Vegas. Interment and a memorial service will be held later in Pagosa Springs.
