Youth soccer cleat swaps Sept. 6-7

Youth soccer season begins Sept. 6, and this year’s cleat swap for the 9-10 and 11-12 divisions will be held the same day at Yamaguchi Park at 5 p.m.

The cleat swap for the 5-6 and 7-8 divisions will be held at the elementary school Sept. 7 and will begin at 5 p.m. There will be areas adjacent to the fields designated for donation and trade of soccer socks, cleats and shin guards for all age divisions. The cleat swaps are free events; all players and parents who registered for this year’s league are welcome to attend.

Parents who registered children for this year’s league and have not yet heard from a head coach should call the office at 264-4151, Ext. 231 or 232, to obtain roster information.

On a related note, children who have been placed on a waiting list will be added to teams if and when spots become available in their respective age divisions.

Four teams from Dulce, N.M. (ages 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12) have recently agreed to participate in the league and will make the trip to Pagosa Springs each Thursdays during the season. Schedules for all divisions have been posted on the recreation department link at www.townofpagosasprings.com.

Games for the 5-6 and 7-8 divisions have been scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays at the elementary school soccer fields, while the 9-10 and 11-12 divisions will play Tuesdays and Thursdays at Yamaguchi Park on South 5th Street.

However, local teams in the 5-6 and 7-8 divisions will occasionally play Thursdays against Dulce at the elementary school; the 9-10 and 11-12 divisions will always play Thursdays against Dulce at Yamaguchi Park.

For more information call 264-4151, Ext. 231 or 232.
