A class titled “What Every Church Member Should Know About Poverty” will be held at Community United methodist Church on the following Mondays beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a light meal — Aug 6,15, 22 and 29.
This four-part series will be presented by Pastor Ford and is a repeat of his presentation two years ago. Between 40-50 people participated in the first classes and Pastor Ford was asked to repeat the courses.
The classes are based on the book by the same name by Ruby K. Payne, Ph.D. After many years of study of those who live in poverty, there is a lifestyle that can be identified. This lifestyle is different from that of those in the middle class and certainly different from those who are of the upper class.
Understanding this lifestyle is the first step in helping a person or family find a way out of living in poverty.
