Beginning Wednesday, Aug. 3, Fr. Doug Neel, Rector of St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church will offer a four-week series on World Religions.
There will be four classes, from 6 -7:30 p.m. each Wednesday in August. Each week lectures and discussions will focus on Islam, Buddhism, Judaism or Hinduism.
Fr. Neel graduated cum laude with a Masters of Divinity degree from Nashotah House Episcopal Seminary in Wisconsin and has been widely lauded as a priest, scholar, teacher, and lecturer. He has presented a variety of lecture series at St. Patrick’s over the past years that have been enthusiastically received. His extensive knowledge of history and religion is presented in his lectures with a conversational approach that allows for interesting questions and discussions.
“As we discover the various ways humanity worships, we embark upon a fascinating journey that not only reveals our differences but gives light to our commonalities as God’s children,” says Fr. Doug.
“With this knowledge, we can approach our own faith and beliefs with deeper understanding and conviction.”.
The classes will discuss the history, geographical center, cultural background, belief systems, and worship practices that surround each religion. There is no charge for the classes and they are open to the public.
