Marilynn Bunch, owner of The Malt Shoppe in Pagosa Springs, was recently honored with a scholarship and monetary prize for submitting an approved copy platform and preliminary marketing plan as required criteria for the Marketing for Smarties workshop offered this spring.
Kristin Vorhies also received a monetary award for submission of an approved copy platform — the basic marketing message every business should develop. The scholarship and incentive program are sponsored by The Lindblad Group, a local consulting firm and advocate for continuing personal and business education.
Other participants completing the Marketing for Smarties workshop this spring included Heather Fiala-Brown, Ilexis Forman, Jenny Hall and Laurie Heraty.
The Small Business Development Center at Fort Lewis College offers the Marketing for Smarties workshop twice a year in Pagosa in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce, the San Juan College Quality Center for Business and Region 9. Marketing for Smarties teaches small businesses how to build a marketing and sales process to help them grow revenues. It is one of the courses which qualify businesses for a tax rebate under the town’s economic stimulus package.
Look for the next Marketing for Smarties workshop to be offered in the fall.
