“Celebrating Community” is the theme of the annual Pagosa Springs Rotary Fourth of July Parade. The parade will be held Monday, July 4, at 10 a.m.
Applications, maps and general information are now available at the Chamber of Commerce or can be downloaded directly from the Pagosa Sun website, www.pagosasun.com.
The parade committee is encouraging all entries to decorate their floats using the theme and appropriate Independence Day décor. So get those wheels turning to come up with the best parade entry that depicts why we can celebrate living in this beautiful corner of the world. This is a time to celebrate the diversity that our community brings to outdoor activities, non-profit organizations, neighborly love and all the great things we enjoy by living here. The trick is to tie that to the celebration of our nation! Think Patriotic Pagosa! I can see you in an Uncle Sam elk costume now!
Cash awards will be given to the first three winners in each category.
As in years past, no items or candy are to be thrown from the entries. Those walking along side the entry may hand items out only after the entry has passed the clock tower. If candy is important to you, get your viewing spot past the clock tower. The Town of Pagosa Springs Police Department and the Pagosa Springs Rotary enforce this for safety reasons, as they want to ensure a good time for all.
So, Pagosa, put on your creative thinking caps and get your applications turned into the Chamber of Commerce no later than June 29. After that date, entries may still enter at the registration booth on the day of the parade, but will be placed at the end of the parade. Be a part of one of Pagosa’s most celebrated and enjoyed events of the year. The application will be posted on the SUN website beginning today.
