Obituary-Jim Guyton

Jim “Jimmy” Guyton, 23, of Pagosa Springs, was in a fatal accident on May 5 on U.S. 160 near Chimney Rock. Jimmy had just graduated from Fort Lewis College the previous weekend with his degree in finance and economics. He had been in student council and was the resident advisor while attending school there.

He enjoyed all sports and while in school in Pagosa, he played baseball and basketball. He graduated high school in 2006. He was loved by his friends, family and faculty. He always showed up with a large smile and high energy.

He is survived by his loving family: George and Rhoda West; his father Jim Guyton and brother Tyler of Glendale Ariz.; his grandparents Bobby and Madeline Guyton of Phoenix Ariz.; sister Ashley and Dominic Dunsmore of San Bernadino, Calif.; Amber and Josh Smiley of Bayfield, Colo.; Aunt Bobbi and Uncle Pat Coughlin of Escalante, Utah; Aunt Eddy Hodges of Palm Springs, Calif.; and his many nieces, nephews and cousins and countless friends.

The family will be planning a celebration of his life near July 4.
