Thingamajig Theatre Company will hold auditions for “Sylvia,” by A.R. Gurney — a modern romantic comedy about a marriage and a dog. Directed by Tim Moore. Performance dates: June 16-July 17.
All roles are paid.
Rehearsals will begin May 9. The cast should plan for a minimum of three days per week, as well as at least one day on the weekend. Exact rehearsal dates TBD. Actual rehearsal calls will be dependent upon submitted conflict dates.
Auditions will be held at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts, in the Black Box Theatre on Monday, April 18. from 5–8:30 p.m. Please e-mail Tim@thingtheatre.org for an appointment time for an audition. Callbacks will be held on April 19 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the same location.
It would be helpful if you could bring the following: Copy of your acting resume, headshot, dates of your prior commitments.
Auditionees should be prepared with a comedic or seriocomic monologue from a published play, no longer than two minutes. Auditionees should not prepare any materials from “Sylvia” itself.

Major characters available:
• Greg: Moved to Manhattan after 22 years of child-raising in the suburbs with Kate. Greg’s career as a financial trader is winding down. Greg finds Sylvia in a park, who offers him an escape from the frustrations of his job and the unknowns of middle age.
• Kate: Married to Greg. Kate’s career, as a public-school English teacher, is beginning to offer her more opportunities. To Kate, Sylvia becomes a rival for affection.
• Tom, Phyllis and Leslie: Played by one actor. Comedic roles that fill the other people in Greg and Kate’s life.
