There are still two spaces open for the April session of Printmaking without a Press at SHY RABBIT. No previous experience required.

A new May session of PhotoShop Basics has also just been added.

WORK-Shops @ SHY RABBIT are held in one of two spacious and comfortable 1,000 square-foot mixed media studios, and are instructed by professional artist D. Michael Coffee. Dates and times as listed below.

Printmaking without a Press I

This introductory printmaking course will take place on Saturday and Sunday, April 16 and 17, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Course fee: $235; Includes all necessary course materials, inks and paper.

This two-day introductory workshop utilizes a unique hand-pressed printing process called “Reductive Ink™,” designed and developed by D. Michael Coffee.

Participants will be introduced to the basics of this unique printmaking technique, and will learn how it can replicate traditional printmaking processes without the use of harmful chemicals or expensive printmaking presses.

Students are provided with a materials list, and are encouraged to advance at their own pace by practicing this remarkable printmaking technique in the privacy of their own home.

Workshops are also designed for those with traditional printmaking experience, and are geared to enhance existing skill levels in preparation for intermediate and advanced classes, if desired.

PhotoShop basics

This introductory PhotoShop course will take place on Saturday only, May 7, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Course fee: $90; includes use of studio equipment as needed. There are four spaces left.

No previous experience required. This workshop is also designed for those with PhotoShop experience, and serves as a great refresher course.

This enormously valuable and fact-filled workshop will cover the general principles of PhotoShop manipulation specific to the needs of artists.

The information provided is also applicable to those that would simply like to learn more about PhotoShop for their own personal use.

Instruction will focus on image/file formats, image sizing, cropping, and image correction.

It will cover accepted practices for submission requirements to juried competitions, publications and newspapers (both online and hardcopy). The preparation of images to be used in promotional materials and website use will also be discussed
