William Andrew Stewart, 83, affectionately know to some as “Wild Bill” or Bill John, passed away at Mercy Hospital at 3 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2011, of heart failure. He will be remembered by all as a cat with more than nine lives!
He was born and lived most of his life in Chicago, working as a pipe-fitter. He is survived by his brother Tom, his seven children Claire, Linda, Christen, Joseph, Agnes, Paul and Mark, and by his ex-wife Josephine, who are spread far and wide across America.
Following his retirement in 1990 he was restless in Chicago and traveled to California, Arizona and New Mexico, finally finding his new home here in Pagosa Springs in 1993. He was very involved in depth psychology, spiritual growth, and consciousness studies. He will be remembered as quite possibly the town’s worst driver, ever. He helped many people here and was regarded as quite the character. He will be missed.
Please join Bill’s daughter Chris and dear friend Jean at a BYOB Irish Wake and open house on Saturday March 12 from 1-5 p.m. at Bill’s house, 314 Midiron in Fairfield.
