The Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters organization (RMPAP) selected Pagosa’s Wild Spirit Gallery to host the organization’s 10th anniversary National Show.
An estimated 50 RMPAP artists will travel to Pagosa Springs, paint all-new, never before seen paintings “en plein aire\’,” \then submit up to six pieces for the show, Aug. 5 to 7.
“This is huge for Pagosa,” said Madeline Lyon, Wild Spirit Gallery owner. “After this event, beautiful paintings of our area will be seen in homes and in art galleries throughout the world.”
The gallery plans to invest close to $10,000 to host the event. In addition, the Community Development Corporation (CDC) has committed to raise $5,000 through sponsorships.
“This Show will make Pagosa Springs an international visual arts destination,” said CDC Executive Director Steve Vassallo. “RMPAP has been known to return for a second, and sometimes a third year to the same location. This is very good for Pagosa Springs.”
