The Humane Society of Pagosa Springs has an urgent need for families to foster puppies in their own homes. The local shelter has a constant stream of puppies waiting for adoption that are still too young for spay-neuter, and, therefore, too young to adopt out. In the meantime, the multiple young pups need interaction with people to socialize them and make them more adoptable. The Humane Society does not have enough manpower to give the puppies a typical loving household experience.
The Humane Society hopes to set up a network of foster homes, families who will care for puppies for a limited time period, from four to eight weeks. Families interested will need a warm, safe place for a puppy or puppies, and time to love and care for them, while exposing them to new things around their household. Anyone interested in being part of this growing foster care network may contact the Humane Society animal shelter directly at 731-4771 for details. Puppies are available now for foster homes.
