Spaces available for Leading Edge Class

The NxLevel Leading Edge for Entrepreneurs class has been postponed for two weeks in order to give more students a chance to sign up for this extremely valuable class. The first class will be on Jan. 26, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Community Center. The course runs for 12 consecutive Wednesday evenings, ending Apr. 13.

Whether you are starting a new business or wanting to take your existing business to the “next level,” this course is designed to help insure the success of that venture. With more than 170,000 people having taken NxLevel courses in communities across the nation, NxLevel training classes have become the premier entrepreneurial training program in the United States, and there are over 6,000 certified instructors. In Pagosa Springs it is team taught by Lois Higgins and Rich Lindblad, who between them have over 60 years of business experience.

While the premise for the course is “creating a business plan,” over the 12 weeks just about every aspect of owning and operating a business is covered. From planning and marketing to accounting, finances and legal, you will be exposed to almost limitless information about starting and running a business, knowledge that is tailored to your own particular needs. There are ample opportunities to network with other students, and one-on-one counseling is available at no extra charge.

The testimonies of former students sum up the benefits perfectly:

“As someone who knew little about running my own business, the Leading Edge Course gave me a firm grounding in what I needed to know. It introduced me to my local peer group and connected me to the fabulous resources of the course’s instructors and the SBDC. It is an excellent course and an incredible value, whether you have a small business now or are considering starting one.” — Sandy Kobrock, Wolf Creek Backcountry’s Pass Creek Yurt and The Wolf Creek Avalanche School, Pagosa Springs, Class of 2009.

“I liked the Leading Edge class for giving me a completely different perspective on my business (it) helped me learn to market my business in ways that are in keeping with my ethics and the philosophy of aikido I want to share with the whole world. Lois helped me turn the way I looked at my business’ finances on its head. Identifying the benefits of aikido, the benefits of my particular dojo in Pagosa Springs, and reasons (you) should practice aikido gave me a much more positive outlook on what I have to offer. This has made me more confident in the marketing I do, and more confident in the strength of my teaching.” — Lisa Jensen, Aikido of the San Juans, Pagosa Springs, Class of 2009.

The cost for the class is only $280, which includes the workbook and the textbook, an invaluable information resource for everything business. While full scholarships are available, each student who completes a business plan will receive a refund for $100, bringing the actual cost for the 12-week class to $180. Coupled with the free counseling available, not just with the instructors, but also with the business advisors available through the Small Business Development Center in Durango, the Leading Edge for Entrepreneurs class is an incredible value and opportunity.
