Photograph Your Work is a high content, digital photographic workshop that is designed to expose artists to the methods necessary to capture, manipulate, save and send digital images of their work for use in the development of their professional careers.
The information provided is also applicable to those that would simply like to learn more about photography for their own personal use, such as with the documentation of antique or fine art collections for insurance purposes.
This comprehensive “low impact” digital photo workshop is designed for artists that understand the importance of taking control of the presentation of their work.
This enormously valuable and fact-filled workshop will focus on lighting, exposures, depth of field, image/file formats, image cropping, and image correction.
Utilization of “off the shelf”, inexpensive alternatives to pricey photographic equipment will be at the core of this workshop.
Photograph Your Work will cover the general principles of photographing both 2-D and 3-D works of art, with an emphasis on the accepted practices for submission requirements to juried competitions, publications and newspapers.
The preparation of images to be used in promotional materials and websites will also be discussed.
Professional artist, D. Michael Coffee, will present the material through both lecture and demonstrations.
Participants may bring up to three 2-D or 3-D pieces of their work to be photographed as part of the “hands-on” portion of the workshop.
Participants’ photos will be evaluated, corrected (if necessary) and saved to CD to be retained by the workshop participant for their personal use.
The techniques and processes that resulted from Coffee’s methodical trial and error over the course of the past 25 years in the documentation of artworks are the basis for the material to be presented in this valuable workshop.
