An appealing feature of small towns is entertainment enjoyed by citizens who share similar interests. We see this in Pagosa in the arts, book and game clubs, outdoor recreation and many other special interest organizations. Dancing is one of these interests.
In 2006, a small group of ladies organized a line dancing group while various husbands waited in the lobby at the Community Center. The line dancing is still going, but we have added the husbands and a few singles, along with country two step, waltzing for the kid’s weddings, Jitterbug, rumba, salsa etc. You get the picture.
The focus is on fun, exercise, and new friends. Perfection is not an issue — there is little or none. Well, maybe there is one — Kris is a past National Champion who has to grit her teeth on occasion. The rest of us are ambulatory and enthusiastic. A sense of humor is very important. Several groups share the Dance Bug or virus, as you will.
