Mountain View Homemakers will gather at the Extension Building Thursday, Jan. 13, for lunch and to hear a program entitled “How Women Lose Weight and Get Healthy” by Dea Steed.
Her program will include a report from an eight year series of studies at Baylor University and Texas A&M University that was underwritten by Curves International. The result of the 15 studies was a plan that is effective in promoting weight loss, fitness, enhancing health and improving quality of life for women of all ages.
All women in the area are invited to come at 11:30 a.m. to meet and visit for a few moments with the members. At noon there will be a covered-dish luncheon, and following that will be Steed, who is the owner/manager of the Curves for Women in Pagosa. Visitors are not expected to bring a food.
The Homemakers organization is a monthly gathering of women who are interested in making the lives of their families and their community more livable. Every meeting includes lunch and either a speaker of community interest or a hands-on community project. One auction fund-raiser every summer results in contributions to eight local non-profit efforts. There are no dues, and women who attend their second meeting automatically become members.
