This Friday at 5 p.m. Grace Church in Pagosa will hold a very special Christmas Eve Celebration Service in the Pagosa Springs High School auditorium. This family friendly service is sure to be a night to remember.
The Christmas Eve service at Grace this year will be a time of joyful celebration centering on the birth of Jesus Christ as the most important gift anyone could receive. All are welcome and invited. Bring your friends, family and neighbors and enjoy the warmth of community as we all come together to sit and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas amidst the hectic holiday hustle and bustle.
This year Grace is pleased to have former NBA professional basketball player Bay Forrest give a special Christmas message entitled “The Greatest Gifts.”
Those who have had the privilege of sitting under Bay Forrest’s ministry have come away with similar comments regarding his powerful, creative communication. Filling his messages with inspired stories from his years as a 6’10” NBA center for the Phoenix Suns and as a missionary in Kenya, East Africa, Bay has a way of passionately and clearly presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ and challenging his audience to live a “sold out” life for Jesus Christ.
Bay was a three time All-American at Grand Canyon University, before turning down an NBA contract to play with Athletes in Action (Campus Crusade for Christ). He then played three years with the Phoenix Suns until a back injury forced his retirement. He spent the next seven years in Colorado as a youth pastor and retreat speaker.
In 1986 he left with his family for Kenya, East Africa, where he and his wife, Peg, served with Africa Inland Mission for five years as dorm parents and teachers at Rift Valley Academy, a school for missionary children.
In 1992, Bay, Peg, and their four children returned to Pagosa Springs, where they base FOCUS Ministries (Fresh Outlook Centering Upon the Savior). Believing that the Christian life is both relevant and exciting, their desire is to lead both teens and adults to a deeper spiritual level, and an intimate walk with God.
One of Bay’s unique communication strengths is his ability to bridge the gap between adults and youth, making him a natural for mixed audiences of all ages. With over 30 years of experience in ministry, Bay has spoken all across the United States and in several countries, doing church revivals, youth conferences, family camps, men’s retreats, college chapels, and Christian school spiritual emphasis weeks. Bay has written two devotional books based upon his experiences as an athlete, “Winning is Everything (Surrendered to God)” and “Dunked On? Deal with It!,” along with co-authoring “Way to Grow!,” with his wife, Peg.
