‘A Mall Full of Night Visitors’

Pagosa Bible Church is pleased to announce two very special Christmas events. Just before Christmas the PBC drama department will be presenting the premiere performances of “A Mall Full of Night Visitors.”

This two act play follows the struggles of a physically challenged teen who longs to find the true meaning of Christmas.

Based very loosely on the opera “Amahl and the Night Visitors,” by Gian Carlo Menotti, the plays centers on Adrian Hart, played by Jordyn Shulda, and her quest to sort through all of the conflicting messages posed by the modern day yuletide. As she seeks to find real Christmas significance, Adrian crosses paths with a local merchant Dominic Del Monico, (played by Larry Baisdon), a wealthy foreign visitor, Janisha Tupuri, (D’Ann Artis), and the mall Santa, (Todd Shulda). These three offer differing perspectives, but her Christmas quandary still persists. Her mother Nancy, (Heidi Tanner) tries to help by suggesting Adrian give of herself to others less fortunate, but this only adds to her dilemma. Along the way security guard Victoria Beaumont (Faith Richardson) offers a politically correct version of the holidays, while her supervisor Jeremy Spiegel (Kevin Muirhead) explains the miracles surrounding the birth of the Christ child.

Performance dates are December 19, 20 and 21 at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free, as are the goodies provided during intermission. Tickets are not required, but are recommended. Guests with tickets will be seated any time until 6:20. Those without tickets will be seated on a space available basis after that time.

Tickets will be available at Wild Spirit Gallery, 480 San Juan St., across from the courthouse downtown, during regular business hours, and at the church office, 209 Harman Park Drive, behind Wells Fargo Bank, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 1-5 p.m.

Later that week, the church will be having a special Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m. on Dec. 24. A varied combination of musical presentations, choir numbers, along with a special message from Pastor Tom Olson will explore “What Christmas Is.”

Make plans now to join the Pagosa Bible Church family for each of these special presentations. For more information call the church office at 731-3120.
