On Wednesday Dec. 8, Wild Spirit Gallery and local artist, Paula Jo Miller, will team up to raise funds for Pagosa Animal Advocates (PAA), a local animal welfare organization. Featuring eight to10 original abstract paintings by Miller, this event kicks off the holiday season with beverages, hors d’ oeuvres, festive holiday music and silent auction packages donated by local businesses.
“We’re excited that so many local businesses are supporting this event,” said Madeline Lyon, PAA board member. “We’ll have a variety of packages on which to bid; including skiing, beauty, exercise, car repair, home design, and of course, one for pampering for your pets.”
Miller, also a PAA board member, indicated that 100 percent of the net proceeds she raises from the event will be donated to PAA Spay and Neuter Program.
Founded earlier this year, Pagosa Animal Advocates protects and promotes the welfare of local animals through rescue, rehabilitation and legislation, with a focus on elderly and special-needs animals — those most often overlooked in the adoption process.
“We will not abandon any animal we promise to help,” said Jackie Denton, PAA founder and president. “Because we have no overhead, all funds donated to PAA go directly to helping Pagosa animals. We’re thankful that Madeline and Paula are hosting this fund-raiser.”
Tickets can be purchased at Wild Spirit Gallery or by visiting www.wildspiritgallery.com. There are two levels of tickets - $25 and $45 each. With the $45 ticket, guests may attend a special VIP showing with the artist one hour early and receive two chances to win one of Miller’s paintings. Tickets can be purchased at the door that night for $35 and $55.
